Title: VMD Grand National Champion?
Post by: Mick Milakovic on July 29, 2009, 10:15:44 PM
OK, the dust has settled; who is the Grand National Champ?  I saw that Cory Buttrick won in cross country and vmx, with a third (or fourth) in trials.  Larry Perkins got firsts in cc and MX, I think, but I didn't see trials. Did anyone do better?

Mick,

I got 2nd in Cross Country and the first in 100 MX did not count as that class was not one of the GNC ones.  I was third in 200 Expert MX so I had a 2nd and 3rd but bombed in trials.  I was on target for a second but the CZ quit after completeing 19 of 40 traps and I got a DNF.  Cory Buttrick won the Grand National Championship with a first in Cross Country, a first in MX and a 3rd or 4th in trials.  I think Mike Parker was 2nd in the GNC with a 1st in CC, a 2nd in MX, and 4th or 5th in trials.

How cool is that? A current factory sponsored KTM rider wins the Vintage GNC on a Penton, awesome. Wish I could have been there to race against him even if he would have disappeared 30 seconds after the start.

Brian,

He was awesome fast in the woods but you would have had a blast racing him.  You both look about the same when you lap me.:D  He wailed on the MX track too.  I saw a few of his trials runs and he looked good but I spent most of the trials on the ground doing soil testing for the Geology Department.:D
