Is there any info yet for the 2010 Reunion Ride, dates, place etc?
Thanks

How about having one in Arizona/Colorado/New Mexico area?:DOr at least a little closer to the left coast would be nice for us westerners.Oh well maybe 2011?

I just got an email from Teddy Landers (AHRMA CC Coordinator) and he says Coombs Arkansas, October 30-31, 2010. Should be a good one.
He is doing two 2-day qualifiers also, I think New Blaine, AR and West Pointe, TN but I will confirm and get back with the dates.
Glad to be heading back down to Razorback country, Leroy Winters backyard!

Those dates have been changed because the ISDE takes place in Mexico starting on Nov.1 and a number of folks plan on attending. The corrected dates will be announced shortly.
Thanks

Hope the steering group lets the club put on a longer event. I have said before but 50 miles and 25 miles is too little. Especially when this year only had 2 terain tests on day 1 and 1 terain test day 2. Club had more planned. Come on guys, you drive 800 miles to ride only 75, with only 8-10 miles of that fast??????? Ted
Ted,
I've asked for more total mileage or at least more test miles for years. I know the reason they limit the mileage and tests is to prevent it from turning into a grueling event for the "one race a year" guys.

The Combs Reunion has been moved up a week to Oct 23-24 to avoid conflict with the 2010 ISDE in Mexico.
Not to get too preachy about the layout of the Reunion, but the event was first a reunion of old Six Days guys and later became an AHRMA cc event. It is like walking a tightrope trying to lay out a course that will appeal to all of the various groups that attend the Reunion. One year too rocky, another year too short, another year not enough challenging trail, another year too wet. The steering committee is considering innovative ways to design a course that will appeal to the majority of entrants, no matter what their interest or intent, but we'll never make everybody happy. As my Argentine ISDE buddies told me after they lost 5 guys out of 6 in the rocks at the Tulsa Six Days....Es la carrera...That's racing!

Thanks Jeff,
The RR is the only event we go to. I took the liberty of scanning the article you wrote for the 2002 RR's Program guide. Its posted below. It answers a lot of questions folks may have on why the RR is set up like it is.

Jeff ,
You folks do a great job. The weather has been the only negative influence in 2 of the 3 we have been to. No way we can control that. Thanks to you and all the folks that have had a hand in putting the RR on.

Dont get me wrong, I am not complaining, I understand why they set up the Reunion Ride they way they do. Its not really about the racing, its about the ISDT Vets and the event itself. I'm sure I'm in the minority in wanting more test miles so I dont really dwell on it. I'd go to the Reunion Ride even if they only had one test and the Grass track because there is so much more too it than just the racing.

Brian,
This is why I have said for years that the ISDTRR should not be a part of the AHRMA Cross Country Series. It is not really a distance race. At the best it is a sprint with a lot easy trailriding thrown in. It is a very cool event but all the Qualifier events are nothing like the rest of the CC Series. The transfer section's trail speed could be kept by even the slowest of Beginners and generally have little to no challenge. Rightfully so for a fun event but perhaps not for a race that is part of what determines a National Championship. It is not even a case of apples and oranges but more like apples and watermelons. I have always said let the ISDTRR stand alone and make it fun. I think that some people like the Qualifier type events being a part of the CC Series because they are easy and like to think it is a race. Just another case of AHRMA's confusion, lack of direction, and inability to listen.
Please everyone, don't be confused-I love the event just disagree with it's importance as a National Cross Country race.

My two cents.....this is one of few events at which you can dust off your vintage bike and just have fun. It was explained to me once that the spirit of this event was "50 year old riders on 20 year old bikes". That was quite a while ago, so it's now closer to "60 year old riders on 30 year old bikes". And to be perfectly honest, it's probably as case of just as much fun being had in the pits as on the trail. I say go and have fun....There are plenty of events throughout the year that are more challenging. Again, just my two cents.

I think you are right Steve which is why it does not fit well in the AHRMA Cross Country Series.
