Title: Transportation needed: Chicago to NE
Post by: skiracer on October 31, 2009, 08:24:51 AM
I am looking to have a bike brought east.  Anyone coming to the Northeast?

Thanks, James

James,
I may be making a trip towards the end of next week to that general area.  I have service duties that include Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.  There may be a slight layover of up to a week involved in between, but I might be able to offer getting the bike from Chicago to the Western border of Pennsylvania.  This wouldn't be the Illinois Provenance MC5 recently on EB?

I could possibly get it from there and move it farther east...

If you guys could get both bikes in Ohio in the same area, I'm still willing to do a pick up and deliver. I've done it for other POGgers, so I do have references if needed. Thx

Gordon,
I haven't had much luck of late sending or receiving email routed through the POG member links.  Try my listing below.

Hey Dale, of course it's not the MC5, you already bought that one! I am getting jerked around, and I am not sure if I am even getting the bike.  I will let you know by Tuesday.  Thanks for the offer.  James

James,
No MC5 in the near future for me, watched it go through 3 auctions though. Have 4 bikes, 1 project bike, and 1 boat (needs to be sold), in the garage.

Gordon,
The Mansfield bike could possibly be picked up late Wednesday afternoon to early evening.  I will be in Indy most of the morning and could swing east before heading home.  There would be approximately a one week layover in Michigan before I could get it to thrownchain.  Sending you email as well.

Dan, Not sure who you were directing your question to. I have emailed you with my phone number, asking to call when all was set up. I have emailed you to discuss how we were going to meet, just yesterday, 11/3/09. I have talked to Dale on the phone. Not sure what else you wanted me to do. I was waiting on you.

Question was directed at skiracer. I was trying to get it set up for a 2 bike move. Get his into Ohio, pick up yours while picking up his, bring both back east to their new homes.
Not sure if skiracer's problem can be overcome, but I'd like to see it if it can. If not then we're back to square one. I don't want to set up to get yours, then do the trip, then find out the other deal came through and have to make a second trip, just not financially feasable.
So since I was hinging the deal on the other bike, I didn't call because nothing was set up. If anyone has anything they need moved from NY to Ohio, or Ohio back into the NE, let me know. Maybe we can get a trip set up. thx

Gordon,
In our conversation Monday your last comment was you were going to go with the local shipper.  Sorry, but good intentions and a plan unraveled and got way too complicated.  I can't offer you any further assistance.

No problem Dale. Yourself, Dan, this board and all the people on it have been great to me. I have made some great contacts.
This bike deal has added some more gray hair to my head. I will end up with this bike. I would just have preffered it to be picked up and payed for in cash, verses sending a money order through the mail and crossing my fingers.
I'm not a skeptical person by nature, but I was scammed in a fraudulant ebay deal, a few years back, that cost me dearly. Very dearly. Now I question things more than I used to.
When this bike arrives, I will breath again and post its (before) picture.
Thanks for trying, Gordon
