Title: PJ1 KTM Silver Grey.
Post by: Dale Fisher on November 13, 2009, 07:40:57 AM
Anyone still have a good can of PJ1 KTM Silver Grey they would part with?  Working on some areas of a 1974 frame.  It appears that it may be mostly original in color (the made in Austria sticker is still on the steering head).  The couple of silvers I have tried are way too silver and need to go more grey to come even close to a  match.

Marc Biro found an "off the shelf" product from Pep Boys out here in So. Cal that matches pretty darn good....calling Marc for assistance.:D  I finished my can and threw away the evidence.

Thanks Marc.

Be in touch soon Dale.

Kragens auto parts has a Dupli-Color high temp ceramic in Aluminum that with the same in Clear on top is extremely close to original, good luck, JP.

KTM/Penton silver paint. here goes: Dupli-Color engine enamel with ceramic 500 degree, Aluminum #DE1615 Clear #DE1636 Matches frame color very close, also engine cases on KTM motors, don't use the clear topcoat for Sachs motors. I but it at Kragens auto parts. Larry, I have a couple seals coming, let you know, JP.

I used rust-oleum hammered finish silver 7213, which I bought at home depot and it looks great.  If you do a key word search of the message board and type in rust-oleum you will find my response to "clayman" in which primer and method of painting.  I swear it looks perfect.  I'll find out next week when I get my bike next to other Pentons.G
