Title: Possible Trades?
Post by: Michael Hickey on November 22, 2009, 05:50:48 PM
I would really love to pick up a Penton. I have always loved these bikes. Unfortunately, what little cash I have (my wife has stopped my line of credit)is tied up in trying to get a 74 Rickman/Montesa put back together and running. However, I do have a couple of bikes I would be will to trade for the right bike. They are a 1977 Maico AW250 or (and) a 1981 Can Am 250 MX6B. I live just north of Houston. If anyone in the area is interested in making a trade, then please contact me. I will sent pictures on request.

Thanks,
Michael

I should add that I am looking for a 250 or bigger. I might consider a 175. And yes it is true that "Old Bikes Rule!"

Thanks again,
Michael

Hello Michael,  Something which I have tried and liked recently is Craigslist selling.   I have tapped into a new source of "Penton money" by selling items on Craigslist (Ebay would work even better, but shipping can be a hassle).  My first attempt at Craigslist had a buyer "hit" within one hr., and the old Honda CB 350 was sold.  I had CASH in my pocket within 24 hrs.  I had a long list of items to sell: strollers, childrens' bikes, Power Wheels vehicles, bike racks, dresser, rabbit cages, car louvers, and whatever else we will no longer use or miss.   It is amazing how the cash adds up.  I have purchased 3 Penton project bikes, one which will be ready for the sandblaster later today after I remove the triple clamps.  Try it; you might like it!   Good luck finding the right Penton for you!                       "Trash to Cash"  joe

Michael.

Once you've taken Joe's advice on selling your surplus machines and might show interest in a 175 Penton.

This one is available in CA from my inventory.  It has been gone through to run nice, not restored, but good running condition with lots of new pieces parts.

Victor,  Do you ever travel back to Ohio to visit (family or whatever)?  That is one nice 175 which lots of riders and racers out here in the Eastern region of the U.S.A. would love to have.  Bike transportation is always a concern.   joe

Joe.

This is why I believe I have a fair price on the bike....transit can be as little as $300 depending on timing and location.

If there is serious interest I may deal a bit......my girlfriend needs a new refrigerator [:X]!

Just a thought.  There may be a contingent of eastern riders attending Diamond Don's in April (east meets west?.  They have also added the 2009 AHRMA awards presentation.  I believe the website mentioned something about B Lackey offering to transport bikes from Calif to that event.  That's a great looking bike Victor!

I will be making several trips West to race this next season starting in early January and could get a bike as far back as Missouri or Illinois for cheap.  Can help with transportation either way also.  Will be in Arizona, Nevada, and California and will travel back through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

Victor,  Someone is receiving a very nice Penton 175.  I think you both will be happy:  happy seller and happy buyer.   What a great combination.   Almost forgot about your happy girlfriend with the new refrigerator.   How did you receive more than the listed price?  joe
