Hello to all new to the POG. I recently picked up a '73 Jackpiner that's bone stock and would like to install plastic fenders. Is there a preferred brand that will keep it vintage? Thanks!

Others w/ more knowledge might chime in but you have a couple of options, depending mostly if you are looking to have a rider, racer, garage queen, etc.
1. I believe some 73s might have been shipped with metal fenders so if your bike from an early month that is a possibility.
2. I think most likely your bike would have had a Falk "Dirt Champion" on the front. Now, I'm pretty sure this particular fender came in at least two versions (old and "new"), but yours would have been the old style with the more pointy front lip. Hard to find NOS but check tom Brosius, who has a nice repo in glas and DC Plastics, which has a repo in plastic. There are advantages/disadvantages to each material type.
3. A Preston Petty MX or Mudder would be period correct.
If you search this site you'll find info and links to potential parts sources.
Good luck, John
The Jackpiner is from early 1973 and has aluminum fenders which are in remarkable shape after being stored for 30 years. I decided to preserve what's there instead of restore and keep it as correct as possible.

My "73" Piner also has aluminum fenders, you can get the plastic repops from DC Plastics if you want the same as the later "73" Pentons. Tom Brosius (supplier) has fiberglas "73" copies too.
Thanks for all of the tips. I just wanted to save the AL fenders and run the later '73 plastic.
