Title: My Penton Mudlark (before pics)
Post by: Gordon Brennan on January 11, 2010, 09:09:33 PM
Here's my Mudlark, the day it arrived. Many people have helped me already, here on this board. Great bunch of people, that's for sure.
Hopefully, she'll be ready for VMD and I'll get a chance to meet some of you.

Yes, this is the Ohio bike. Pictures can be deceiving. Pretty much everything is there, but the motor was a mess.
Doug Wilford re-built the motor, as it was pretty bad, and I wanted him to take a look to see if it was even worth fixing. Let's just say to begin with, the flywheel had to be cut off with a torch!! And, as is normal in these situations, the deeper you go, the more you find. .... I know what I can do and what I can't and not too proud to say when enough is enough. When Doug has to cut the flywheel off with a cutting torch, it's a good indication that someone should take over the motor part of this restore. Very lucky to find Doug, (thanks to all you good people). Anyhow, not a problem, other than for my checkbook. At least I know it's right. Now it's just a matter of a normal restore, the part I enjoy the most. It is down to the bare frame now being prept for a sandblast and paint.
