It is once again time for the York, PA vintage Swap Meet presented by the Potomac Vintage Riders. The event will take place January 24 at the York County Fairgrounds.
PLEASE NOTE...The PVR has moved the event into a larger building at the fairgrounds, instead of using the two buildings as in the past.

OK, who's gonna make the trip to York?
I just talked to Al Buehner and he is getting his war wagon packed up and I am doing likewise.
I think Chicago Jerry has a booth also.

At this point, as much as I'd like to, I'll have to say I won't make it.
You know I'll be there, Paul. It's right around the corner.

Well..it's Sunday and I am definitely NOT at the PA swap meet. Some un-anticipated expenses (umm...deductible for teenager driving car off of road in her first "snowy" conditions, etc.) put a crimp on my not being able to attend. Which means I also missed the AHRMA NA banquet the night before where my fellow racers - no doubt - ate and drank merrily. Someone will have to catch up to me with my 125 Classic NA "championship" jacket - a very nice gesture/prize for our efforts this year on the Fast By Friedel Six Day. And I was so looking forward to starting the trash-talk with my fellow competitors-to-be in the 250 Historic class this coming year. MC5's rule..can I get an "amen"? AMEN! [^]
Speaking of old guys, I also wanted to be at the Swap Meet to wish Tony Friedel a Happy..oh I don't know..90th?..birthday that occurred this week. :D
And to once again offer my thanks to Tony, Lew Mayers, and others who offered me consolation, trailer loading, and beer after my "Over the Handlebars and Into the Woods" performance in the 2009 VMD CC race.
Wish I was there with Team POG (Paul and company), hope y'all had a nice time and found some great deals.
Bob,
It was not my 90th. I have a number of years left before I reach that milestone. You keep telling people how old I am and you will not reach my current age. LOL
Regards,
Tony
Happy 59th Birthday Brother! I want to live.

The move to the larger building at the York swap meet was a huge success, I was amazed that the place was filled wall to wall with more stuff out in the parking lot. My biggest problem was trying to get ahead of Chicago Jerry in finding the deals :D
I personally would like to thank the Potomac Vintage Riders for keeping this event alive when it's future was in question. I have been told that the proceeds from this event are used to help fund the club's events for the year.
As always is was great to visit with fellow POGGERS and to meet up with a lot of new faces who have a keen interest in all things Penton. My booth is back to back with Al Buehners and it seemed to me that he had a constant supply of visitors to his booth seeking both parts and info.
I hope everyone had a safe trip home, the trip over the mountains always seems to be entertaining this time of year and the windmill farm along the turnpike near Somerset is always an interesting sight to see.
While making the drive across the state on the PA turnpike I always think of the story that Dane's mom, Pat Leimbach, wrote and often recites for us about her trip from Amherst to Baltimore with her brother Ted in a semi to pick up a container of motorcycles from the docks. Her story of driving across the turnpike, thru the tunnels and over the mountains in a cloak of darkness in her maiden experience of driving the rig, as her brother Ted slept in the bunk, truly helps to explain what it took to keep the whole Penton motorcycle business going and true grit of the folks who did it.

Tony, I could get Lew to bake you a birthday cake for thursday night but not sure where I can find 99 candles. Mike Slate's birthday is also this week, your 99 and his 50+, this cake will look like a porcupine.

So, anyone find any deals that they couldn't live without?? Parts?? whole bikes?? anything??
Got a great homemade chocolate milkshake there. Best deal of the day.

i like it! :D now i'm starting to get my chops busted here as well as at work. but the store should be called "danik's" he's a much bigger player than i am. but i'm trying to learn from the master. i did beat him to a couple of good deals though.
i ended up with four good deals. i bought a 75 penton/ktm 125 with a busted frame but good forks and rebuildable shocks. i sold the gas tank off of it there as well as the motor.
i bought a good core motor 175 from prez danik. it was locked up. i tore it apart yesterday and it will be a good one when i finish it. very minimal mag rot.
i also got a 84 kdx 200 that i'll build for the pvcc wars. i've got to find out whats wrong with the shifter on it but it has good compression.
i spotted a isdt lever and perch on the table right across the aisle from al and paul. $5 dollars later it was mine. :)
sold some stuff that i didn't need including a old dr 125 'zuk. i split my space with fellow pogger paul busick. he sold a few items too.
chi jer working to make that store sign a reality.[8D]
