Hey, Mick. Came across this nice picture of Ambr while researching archives for a video project.

How about give us an update on our favorite young lady/soldier/racer?
Thanks Ted, I love that picture and have used it as my computer background! That was Ambr's first year racing at Mid-Ohio, and she was so thrilled that she rode Black Beauty all over the grounds! I guess she didn't think about it not being a pit bike and loaded it up right in front of the POG tent before the saturday meeting! Does anybody remember her kicking, kicking, and kicking? Must have been 50 kicks but she finally got it going!
Unfortunately, we got a phone call from Ambr last night that wasn't good news. She developed an ear infection in Florida that has prevented her from continuing as a Naval air crew member. The good news is she was prepared for it. She will probably switch to Navy corpsman (I'm not sure of spelling, but it's a medical first-responder). She trained in this during high school, riding on an ambulance with EMTs for a year. The switch is not want she wanted, but it's kind of like prepping your bike for an enduro: prepare for the worst and hope for the best!
Just to let you know she thinks about the POG and all her wonderful friends a lot. When we talked last night she said if she goes corpsman she would transfer back to Chicago and be closer to us and the possiblity of riding her bike more!
Mick
Mick,
Thanks for the update and tell Ambr that things work out for a reason. We are Proud of her and have in our continued thoughts and Prayers. In the picture you see a smile that lights up the world around her. You are Blessed to have a wonderful Daughter and that for keeping us in the loop.

My hats off to Amber!!! A Med corpsman is a tough job. She'll look back at Basic Training and AIT as the best part of her Military career. It's tough but rewarding. If she ever goes out west to the "NTC" (she might as a corpsman) I'll drop her off some cookie's.

Navy corpsmen are also medics for the USMC. The famous photo of the flag raising on Iwo Jima shows 6 soldiers....5 Marines and 1 Navy corpsman. They go in harms way to save lives, disregarding their own safety in the process. They are unsung heroes for sure!
