Title: MC5/6 fuel tank differences?
Post by: OhioTed on February 01, 2010, 07:58:42 AM
Need a little help.  Can you all I.D. the differences & applications between the fuel tanks on MC5/6's?

Examples of two different styles I have seen are represented in the 2010 POG calender.  Specifically, the tanks on Young Ted's "Davie" & Steve Minor's bike, as opposed to the tanks on Skiracer's & The Sherriff's.

What's the difference, and why?

January looks to be a large clark plastic tank for either the MC-5 or more likely the GS-6. Feb is a OEM MC-5 tank. Sept is the small OEM GS-6 tank and nov is the Large GS-6 OEM tank. Does that answer your questions?

Just an FYI, tanks will not interchange between an MC5 and a GS6. The frame backbone is different.

And the frame backbone on the 77 400GS6 and the 77 125GS6 are different as well...so the "one size fits all" doesn't work, even on like years.
