Title: redwing shocks
Post by: Bob Marsh on February 04, 2010, 11:35:33 PM
Anyone know if the old school redwing shocks from the 70's with the aluminum body that looks like a hammerhead are any good?? Do they compare with konis, or ??

i rode with hammerhead redwing shocks for an entire season in 05 winning the 200 intermediate class. they work pretty well are made by kayaba and are rebuildable. they are not on par with ohlins but are no where near the price. they work about the same as progressives and again are rebuildable, where progressives are not.  hope that helps. chi jer

Thanks that is what I wanted to know. I can get a NOS set for 150.00 and I thought that was a good deal..

Omar's got 'em, Bob.  http://omarsdtr.com/shox2.html
Hey, if you end up using a pair of these, let me know how they work.  I'm curious about 'em, too.

I got several sets of the standard Redwings (look like Ceriani's) from Allynair and they worked great!  Cost was around $50 a set.  I still have 2 NOS sets available in reserve.

I have them on my 72 Six Day (13 or 13.25 I think...) and they work fine for Cross-Country and trail duties.

But if you are going to do a lot of moto-cross, go Progressive, WP, or Ohlins.  The WPs seem to get "most recommended" vote around this site by The Racers.
