Is there such an animal....if so anyone have one, new of course.
Victor
Hello Victor, My Penton manual lists piston assy. 48.0, 48.5, 49.0, and 49.5 mm. diameter. Please specify which cylinder you will use: cast iron or aluminum. I have been told by some POG members that they have used pistons interchangeably. I have always used Wiseco pistons because they offered sizes between that which Sachs did. ie.48.25 mm dia. (+0.25mm increments) If you think you need a 49.75 mm. dia. piston, I do not know if one is offered off the shelf. Maybe it was offered as a Wiseco piston. I have a friend who had custom pistons built by Wiseco (for a Ford 351 Windsor), and it was about the price of off the shelf pistons. I wonder if they make rings, too. I must add that I have NEVER siezed nor blown up a Sachs engine. Good Luck Victor. Let me know how your search goes. I have two Sachs 100 top ends here which I might likely needs pistons for in the future. Joe
Thanks Joe.
The bottom of the piston below the ports was a bit more worn than perfect, the "work area" from the bottom of the ports up to the top of the cylinder, was fine and is tight....I simply had to explain to the machinist what to do....even the best machinist aren't very pragmatic. heck, remember we changed piston between motos at Smith Road, Meadowlarks and Lexington, in the mud and cold. These California guys can get a bit "Indy Car'ish" !
Thanks for the info.
Much appreciated.
Victor.
The Berkie should be a "hot" one METTCO porting, some secret work,a new PVL and a finely tuned Bing carb. Just the rider needs rehab !
