Okay...it really is just about time to get ready for the 2010 racing season up here in the New York Territory. There is a set of 1980 35mm fork clamps on eBay right now - I think they are from the the 125. Will these work on the 76-77 MC5 250? The later clamps have the swept back handlebar hold-downs which would allow for dropping the front forks a bit (and maybe a little better turn in).
Thanks for a response!
I have a set of the 79 38mm forks and clamps one of my 1977 MC5 project bikes, and plan on converting it back to 35mm forks with the same type of clamps. I had no trouble fitting those to my frame. Mike

I enjoy rebuilding and appreciating Pentons!

Yes, they will work well. It is the hot ticket in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen. I'm gonna pull the trigger on this set-up as I began my MC5 preps for 2010.
BTW Larry P - a sincere congrats on your Wild Wild West riding/racing experiences. I am just soooo envious. If I could get my wife to go back to work full time, then maybe I could take some time off and....[^]
Aren't the fork tubes longer on those forks???? I have a set of 35mm from an early 80's 125 or 175, and the top tubes are a couple of inches longer than the forks that came on the bike. Check the overall length before you buy!!! James
I intend to only use the triple clamps, not the forks from the 1980 bike. I have a nice pair of the early MC5 leading axle Ceriani forks that should do the job quite nicely.
