Title: 1978 KTM mx6 400
Post by: Randy Bailey on March 26, 2010, 10:44:53 PM
Can you give me any info on it? Here's what I know: it has the mx5 chassis but has the 6 speed tranny enabled. It has wiring for lights that appears to be factory. The fellow I got it from also included a larger tank that I think is a 77 and a later model headlight. Mr Buehner took the frame and engine numbers and confirmed it as an mx6, I thought it might have had some crazy stickers on it. I raced it a couple times last season in the SEVMX series. I can send pics if someone can post them. Thanks

To post a pic, search the message board on HOW to POST a PIC,  Mike W covers it pretty good.

Randy,
I have 2 MX-6 250's and saved on my old computer a KTM advertizing brochure showing the MX-6, which was actually a late-78 very early '79 intoductory model line that, according to some of the information that has been explained to me, filled the void between the 78 and redesigned chassis introduced in 79 which was delayed due to a problem with the grade of Chrome Moly ordered in by KTM. The MX-6 may have only been made for a couple of months or less. If you would like some more specific information, email me at [email protected] Mike
