Title: Can anyone identify this VDO speeometer?
Post by: Steve Minor on February 16, 2002, 07:08:44 AM
The numbers and identifing marks on a VDO speedometer I'm considering are as follows: The speedometer is stamped W=1.664, the drive unit is marked #21.000.00 Made in Germany #5.72 2/109/4.....I'm considering buying it if I can use it on my 1977 400 GS6.....As always, any help is appreciated!

Steve;
The speedo you mentioned has a ration of 1.6--  This will work but won't be accurate you need to send it to United Speedometer in Riverside, CA and tell them you want the 1.42 ratio installed.

if they can fix it,you can send it to Krautli in Zurich,Switzerland. They are general seller for switzerland,and VDO started productions of speedometers in the eighties here in switzerland. They can fix all VDO speedometers and instruments. Regards Dr.2Stroke

Steve,

Have a look at my reply to your previous posting.  Ypu should be able to figure out if it will work with a 21" wheel.
