OK, I just received my new float needle and seat for my Bing 53 series carburetor. I followed the instructions on getting the old seat out and all went well. The seat came out with no problems.
Problem is the new seat just drops in. The instructions say to tap in with a block of wood and a hammer. This one is, what I would consider, very loose. I can put it in, flip the carb over, and it drops out.
Any thoughts about this out there?
Talked to Bing Carb this morning and they sent the wrong seat and needle.
How long has it been since you replaced the needle jet and the jet needle.. I was told by Bing international that they should be replaced once a year.

The needle jet, jet needle, main jet, pilot jet and atomizer are all new Tom. I put them in about a month or so ago.
As far as the float needle and seat go, Bing told me there were two possibilities when they sent them to me, and as my luck goes, the ones they sent were wrong. What they're sending now is the needle seat and needle with a 'rubber' or soft tip. Has anyone used these?
Also, for others doing this. I had trouble getting the 7mm tap to start, so I went to a 1/4 - 28 tap. This tap is smaller, but it still gave me enough thread depth to easily pull the old needle seat out. And I didn't have the feeling I was forcing the 7mm in.
Gordon,
I have used the rubber tipped needles before on a few Bing carbs and they work just fine. I've also had trouble getting the recommended fine thread 7mm tap to start into the seat. I basically did what you did but went with a coarse thread 7mm tap instead of the fine thread and then had no trouble.

The rubber tipped needle is definitely better. I've made them from other applications when I couldn't locate one.
