I stumbled across a Penton gas tank, but don't know what year / model it is. Can anyone help? It's fibreglass, orange, has a black and white "Penton" stripe that arcs up over the top. It appears to be for a high breather.

The bikes were orange in 76 & 77. Is there a tab sticking out off the bottom back edge of the tank?

The fibreglass forms a lip about 1/2" to 3/4" across the back edge of the tank. There doesn't appear to have been other sort of "tab".

That sounds like the tank from my 1977 400 GS6.......

Yep I agree. Sounds like you have a 77 gs tank.
