Title: Latest POG newsletter
Post by: ALB on August 30, 2010, 10:13:25 AM
The latest POG newsletter #48 is in the mail and all of the POG members should be receiving their copy this week.
The member profile for this issue is Dale Fisher of Michigan. Since there was some extra "room" in this issue, I included one of Ted Guthrie's stories about the 2006 Ohio Valley BSA Reliability Run.
For our POG member who could not make it to the AMA Vintage Days event in July, I have an article covering it and Paul Danik's "Presidents Corner" article talks about his experience of attending some seminars that were held and his being with John Penton checking out a bike in the Husqvarna display tent.

A mailing party was held on Friday evening at Doug Wilford's house to put the mailing labels on the envelopes, stuff the newsletters inside, seal the envelopes, and put the postage stamps on them. I would like to thank Dot and Doug the use of their lovely home to host the party (the cookies that Dot baked for us were delicious), and to Al Martin, Ollie Martin, Jeff Borer, Al Born, and Paul Busick for helping out. The next mailing party will be held some time around the end of November and will be announced at the last minute like the other times (depending upon when the newsletter is ready at the printers). All POG members are always welcome to attend.

If you do not receive your copy of this newsletter, that means that you probably let your membership expire and your name was taking off the mailing list.
Contact Doug Wilford to see if your membership is current or download the POG membership application form with your check to re-up. The current POG newsletter is sent to all new members when they join.

I would like to publicly express my sincere thanks to Alan Buehner for all the work he does in putting out the POG newsletter. Alan has done a great job in assembling a team of folks to help him with different aspects of the newsletter, but the weight of getting it all to come together rests squarely on his shoulders.

I have heard that occasionally he needs to prod just a bit to get some articles to him, but from what "I have heard" :), he does it in a very nice manner.

Thanks Alan for all that you do to keep the ship afloat.

Paul

I am greatly impressed on how he put together my profile article and pictures!  There have been several developments since it was published that may be unveiled at the POG meeting.  Traveling with Rob W. and looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Dale,

My newsletter arrived today and I really enjoyed reading the Member Profile with you being the subject.  I think the picture of you on page 8, standing outside of Eric Cheney's shop, is absolutely priceless, what a great experience for a young person to have taken part in.

I also noticed that in the picture on page 7, the one with your Dad sitting on the Yamaha, that there is a Penton rider in the background with an ISDT helmet on, any idea who that is?

Great story, looking forward to seeing you guys Thursday nite.

Paul

I make sure I go where I will not be disturbed and selfishly enjoy the newsletter.  The POG newsletter alone makes joining the POG worth the price of admission! Great read on the BSA Reliability Run Run and more.

Thanks to all that work so hard to make this happen.

#48 is great!!!  The US Postal Service got it out here to Barstow CA in record time.  It was in my mailbox Aug 30th after my landlord had read it. I sat down and read it cover to cover
1st Hope everything is going good for Doug W and Dane L.

2nd.  I really enjoyed The Dale Fisher Member Profile.  I got a kick out the small mention of the bikes being in the house for the finishing touch's on his restro jobs.  I like seeing Dales Pics of the bikes in the house too.

3rd  Thanks for the article on the VMD.  I felt like I was there.  I wish I was.  One of these days.

4th Whats in your Garage?  Another article, I wish I was there, but felt like I was.

I could go on and on, but you get the point.  Very good  Thanks for all your and everybody else's hard work.

Al Buehner - Thank you once again for such excellent work with SKT.  I really enjoyed Dale Fisher's member profile.  Wonderful insight into the work of Eric Cheney.  I had never before known anything other than the Cheney name.  Great to hear about how Dale held onto his cool Cheney-Sachs, and is once again competing on it!

Really, really good work, Al.  Thank you so much for putting forth this effort on all of our behalf!
