Title: 1978 Penton/KTM?

Check out this tank on ebay:

I've never seen a '78 Penton but I did have a new 1978 KTM 400 MC-5 that had the Penton KTM logo on the back of the seat cover.

Could this have been a very early build 78 Penton or did someone put Penton decals on the 78 tank?

KTM decal was replaced with Penton one.  It was seperate from the World Championship part.  That tank was originally owned by an old Penton dealer.

That is fantastic.  I would love to have that tank, but, I have won only 1 thing on e-bay and only buy the "buy now" priced stuff.

In 1978 the bikes came in to the dealer with PENTON on them. With the paper work that came to the dealer, there was a set of KTM stickers. This is how the dealer would of received the tank. Hope this will help. Later Gary

Dave,

I have these decals in stock. They were used on the 1977 MC5 gas tanks.
There is also a smaller size of this decal and they were used on the 1977 GS6 gas tanks.
