Title: Cleaning stains from glas tank
Post by: Kip Kern on September 26, 2010, 09:53:17 PM
This may have been covered before but is there a product that can remove the brown "bleed through" of fuel from a glas tank? Or, is there anyone out there re gel coating Penton tanks? Trying to save an almost perfect tank:(  Thanks in advance

Kip,

Give vinegar a try, I have never used it to remove bleed through, but I have used it to remove other stains and it worked really well.  Soak an old towel with it and wrap the tank up in it for a couple of days.

I read on one of the other forums, either PE or TM Suzuki that leaving fresh fuel in a stained tank may lighten the stain over a period of time, but be sure that the fuel has no alchohol to damage the tank while soaking for an extended period of time. Mike
