Title: Ready for startup
Post by: dirtbike on October 02, 2010, 06:12:12 AM
I'm done and ready to start up my latest KTM. It's a 1979 400 replica built from a 1980 250 with a 1976 400 motor.
There are lots of pictures here:

Great looking restoration!  How do you intend to enjoy it?  ie. vintage racing, trail riding, show, et.al.  How popular are KTM's in Sweden, and how easy are parts obtained?   Thanks for sharing the photos.  Joe

Thanks gentlemen. Started her up yesterday and she ran perfect. Better than any bike I have ever started up right from the first instant. This baby is pretty powerful. My maico 400 is really sharp and I was wondering how this was in comparison. But this one is just as fast.

Joe Novak, I will race her in vintage mx and scrambling. There are parts but they are kind of rare here in huskyland. Most parts come from André Horvath (//www.enduroklassiker.at) in austria. And then some from Flash (//www.sunrisektm.com), ebaying and friends.

A video will be available soon. By the way, check this amazing cam out. http://www.themicrocamera.com/. Size of a car alarm controller, yet excellent quality of the video. Useful as a helmet cam and under $20

Nicely done, especially the tank skin.  Where did you source the gold rear sprocket?  That's a nice touch or did you have it anodized?

Thanks,

Phil Ketchum
