Title: Nice Log Jumping Technique
Post by: Gordon Brennan on December 18, 2010, 06:04:58 PM
This is some good information, although I would like to see it done on a smooth trail, without the dips in front of the log. This is commitment .... at the speed he's going .... at least for me!! I'm thinking .... GO LEFT .... GO LEFT.

I don't think my old bike would clear the log that easy, the new bikes sure do soak up the dips and bumps!

Yea, I don't think our old bikes will do that, there is not enough sag in the suspension to allow you to prejump stuff, but then I could be wrong cause we use to jump stuff on our BMX too using a similar move.

I've jumped a million logs in my years, and actually thought that I was once quite good at it, but never ever as smoothly as that.....

Very nice technique.

I think much of what Shane is incorporating here is the 'ol "Bunny Hop" technique.  This is a technique that I've never mastered. It does take practice!  I believe if you can master the Bunny Hop on a bicycle transferring this technique to a dirt bike is EZ. Many practice on a bicycle by first jumping a 2x4 & progressing up to bigger stuff.  If you ever watched a bicycle trials event you know how much a feller can clear doing this. The nice thing is with a dirt bike you have the throttle, clutch and suspension to assist you rather than just your body and balance.

Of course if you don't get it just right...
