Pretty nice coverage of the Dakar rally on the Versus Network.
They do a 30 minute recap of each days's action every afternoon.
Jonah Street dropped fom 8th to 12th overall yesterday when they crossed the Andes. His carburetted bike lost significant power in the thinner air compared to the fuel injected bikes....
Cyrill Depres & Marc Coma are beginning to run away from the field on the 4th day.
Can you tell me where Ignacio, the guy on the Bultaco, is positioned after day 6?
Thanks, Gordon
Never did see the Bul guy mentioned on TV, but they focus on the top 10 overall.
Amazing racing to watch. 300-500 miles per day for 13 straight days sure puts a premium on reliability. This is more like the 6 days that I remember than the glorified hare scrambles that they have now.
Baja Champ Quinn Cody finished 9th overall as a rookie and was top American riding a Factory Honda. Look for him next year in a big way.
Jonah Street ended up 12th overall & 2nd American - once again riding as a PRIVATEER on a Yamaha. He had the above mentioned loss of power at altitude, and then lost a couple hours with electrical problems a few days before the finish.
Quinn Cody also Overalled Vegas to Reno this year and did it solo.
