Title: Compatible parts for a 1981 KTM

Where can I find information that will give me parts from other year bikes would fit my 1981 KTM 250 project?

1976 MC 5 Original Owner
1982 Suzuki PE 175
1976 Husqvarna 175GP
2002 KTM 200 EXC
2007 KTM 250 XCF
1979 KTM 250 GS (Project)
1981 KTM 250 (Project)

Check the links from Home Page for the KTM495 site. They have posted there .pdf's of various spare parts lists and manuals. You can try comparing part #'s.

The later style motors--'79 and later for 420+ and '80 and later for 125/250--similar design but were quite a bit different part-by-part in motor and frame. About only interchangeable item with earlier KTMs is the rear wheel. Lots of updates beginning in '82 again--single shock, reed valve, forks etc.

Had the same basic engine in 82 and 83 xc model, although had reeds.  wheels 79-82, forks, put some 40mm 82-83 forks on it and it will handle much better,just mill out your triple clamps. Those forks are actually a little shorter and I lowered the back end some on my 81 495 by going to shorter shocks also.  lowering the bike a little helped the handling alot. I have all the books from those years.  If you have a specific question write or call me and I will look.
