I used to have to do that on my old Husaberg. I'd pull the compression release lever and give it about 10 good boots to clear it out, then ease over tdc and one kick was all it took. Of course I was a dozen years younger then, which is why I highly recommend the electric thumb start method nowadays! Age and treachery may not always beat youth and exuberance, but it don't hurt!
