Post by: glowride on February 09, 2011, 11:59:20 AM
Looking for a swing arm for my 1977 250 MC5 project. If you guys could look through your collection of parts, I would greatly appreciate it.
Also looking for the left 35mm Marz fork leg (without pinch bolts).

Thanx, MG

Mark,

If the 77 GS6 swingarm is the same; and I think it is, I have one. [email protected] is my e-mail.

I'll give you a line larry.

I'm also looking for a Marz fork leg! '77 left leg, (without pinch bolts). Have a small dent in the lower bottom half of it and keeps the tube from going thru it's full travel. Unlees anyone has any cures, not sure what to do with it?

If you haven't found the right one yet, there is a 76-77 MC5 swing arm on eBay with a swingarm bolt for $38 Buy it now that is mis-listed as a Mint 400 swingarm. Mike

I have a set of '77 35mm Marzocchi forks, good sliders and tubes. $75 fair? Keep the rest of what you have for parts.

Thanx Mike, I did see that one also. The problem I have with it is that there are no brackets for the upper chain rub block. Was hoping to avoid any chop, cut and rebuiding. Waiting for Larry to get back with what he has.
Big Mac, If the left slider (leg) is without pinch bolts, I am definitely interested. Can you e-mail me a photo and let me know where you would be shipping from?

Thanx, MG

That is a 76 MC5 swingarm, which didn't use an upper chain rub block, as it lays directly on the metal slide. They didn't use them until 77. I usually use a 1 tooth bigger front countershaft sprocket and adjust for ratio on the rear and wear isn't usually a problem, but if you are looking for correctness on a 77, then you need to look elsewhere. The GS-6 swingarm chain rub bracket is different, and incorporates bracketry to mount the plastic chain guard. Mike

Well, I actually saved the swing arm after torching out old needle bearings. Cleaned out area by Dremel sanding and new bearings pressed right in place. Bearing sleeve slid right in snug as a bug!

Big Mac, Appreciate photos of forks, unfortunatly they are not what I need. Already have a set 35's with pinch bolts on both legs. Looking for a leg without. Which originaly came on my '77 MC5.

Here are before and after of swing arm bearing replacement. After the local "Fabricator" torched and mangled the bearing and nearly melted the orifice thru to the outer surface of one side. I brought it home and soaked in liquid wrench for a week and everything came out rather easy. The reason I took it to him in the first place was to remove bearing sleeve. Which was frozen to the bearings.
Here also is a photo of the Marz fork leg (without pinch bolts) that I am looking for.
