Kip,
Our family plans to be there again this year. I'm going to be selling off a few projects this spring/summer. I will probably bring a 76 Penton 125 Cross Country (KTM engine),77 Penton 400 GS6 and a 78 KTM 400 MX unless someone takes them off my hands before VMD.

Mike,
I'm also still waiting to receive info about buying the same spaces I've had in previous years. I know the AMA sent me a letter about this last fall but I can't find it now. I do remember the letter said that you'll only have like a 2 week window to reply back with payment to keep the same spaces so better be ready to move quickly once the info arrives.

Dave,
Thanks for the heads up! I just hope they don't forget about me even being there like last year and make me pay the premium price for the spaces. Mike

I talked to Dave Hembroff {VMD Manager}. The Mid-Ohio stuff should go out in the next week or so. They are working on new pricing for the spots and entry. Last year there were a few issues with limiting tickets issued with vendor spots, etc. This year look for something like a reduced cost for vendor spots without entry tickets, and then you pay for the number of entry tickets you need to go along with said spots when ordering. Also maybe looking at the option of paying extra to mailout vendor info and tickets in advance instead of pickup at the gate. VMD will continue to be at Mid Ohio for the next several years to come.

I am planning to go for the first time this year.  I have a few questions on the layout of the event; In the vendor spaces, can you camp there also, or is the camping in another area?  Is there an area where most of you guys are, or are all of you spread out?  I went on the AMA website looking for the applications, but couldn't find them, are they out there?  Thanks, James

James,
Yes, many people camp in their swapmeet spaces at VMD. Last year was the first time the AMA started charging an additional fee to do so. There is also a large camping area is near the MX track and it's quite a distance from the swapmeet. The Penton Owners Group and a lot of the POG guys have their vendor spaces down in the area they call the lower paddock. These spaces are right next to the demo ride area and close to the road race pits. The lower paddock spaces are also very close to the restrooms and shower facilities which make it a good location to camp. Mid Ohio is a big place so be sure to bring a pitbike so you can venture around easily and see everything. It's best if the pitbike looks roadworthy in case the AMA ever decides to fully enforce the rules posted for the vendors. Once the VMD applications are posted by the AMA there will be a map showing the swapmeet layout and maybe you can find a vendor spot down near the POG. Hope this helps and we'll see you there.

Was planning on bringing the Penton for Trials and a Husky I'm working on for MX. Gas went up .26 cents a gallon between my last fill up and this morning. $90.00 and I wasn't empty. Been waiting a long time for VMD and this new (73) Husky, but getting 8 miles to the gallon with my rig might force me to stay close to home. Was told gas could be around $5.00 a gallon by Memorial Day. Doesn't seem right, but we all need it.
My motor is done Kip. Just need to pick it up. Thanks for the referral.
