Title: HIRO Question
Post by: iyaoyas on March 06, 2011, 07:10:05 PM
Can anyone tell me if the 125cc HIRO engine has a 5 or 6 speed gearbox?

Thanks-

They are a SIX speed transmission.

I destroyed the transmission (half the gears were in multiple pieces) on my Hiro Penton. Under what I thought to be normal useage.

Still...when I put my NOS Hiro engine in a Six-Day frame, I definetly plan to build it for riding/racing.

Ric, I raced it in 1975, among all the tricked out CR's, RM's, etc.
I never felt there was another bike on the track, any faster, or better than that Penton I was on.
I've never ridden a modified Sachs engine, but it was considerably faster than a stock B engine.
