I see that the old German Maico Ace Adolf Weil has passed away.  Another great one from my Youth gone.

Thanks for the update.  Adolf was truly a Great Moto X Star as he rode at the top of the class well in to 30's when it was already a young mans sport.  He probably would have won several 500cc Championships if it hadn't been for the Great Roger DeCoster.  He was one of the few riders, besides DeCoster, that could really ride a Open Class bike.

God Speed.

Maico didn't name their AW series after him for nothing.  Another legend!

I'm posting this 1977 Maico 400 GS (essentially the last of the AW marquee) in honor Adolf Weil.  A racer's racer and a true iron man. May he rest in peace.

I'd also like to thank Ian Bateman of MXSolutions, Bill Eyler of East Coast Maico, Gary at SoCal Maico, and Mike "ROKON" Murphy for their assistance in resurrecting this bike.
