I'm trying to remove the PVL stator from the crank of my harescrambler so I can put a new crank seal in. Made my own puller and it isn't budging!!! (I'm using the 2 inner most threaded holes and a shaft protector)
Right now I have a bit of pressure on it and using some penetrating oil.
I would like to use some heat on it (direct flame), but I don't think I really want to do that, so not to screw up the stator. I would like to use a heat gun, but not sure if the stator could take any heat at all.
Any other suggestions?

DO NOT HEAT IT!! It will kill the magnets.
The way to get it off is: Put good pressure on the puller and rap the puller sharply with a hammer.
The puller itself or the center bolt? (due to a lack of a better word)
I kinda thought that heat would kill it.
I used to rebuild huge sewage pumps at my job and whenever an impellar refused to budge, heat, & sometimes a 50 tons ram, would always help. You dare not stand in front of it in case it would let go.

Yep the bolt that is up against the crank end, the shock usually knocks it loose. Make sure that your puller won't harm the crank when you hit it.
It's off. Actually I barely tapped it.
I was actually kinda surprised that the rotor did not have a slot for the woodruff key. When I went to the PVL site it seems that most of them do not have a slot. Thank god they have instructions on their site.
Out of curiosity, how much does the accesory flywheel weigh?

You dont need a woodruff key for any flywheel. The only purpose of a woodruff key is to align the wheel when you install it, the press fit alone secures the wheel to the shaft. The woodruff key is always made of soft enough metal to shear if the wheel comes loose because it is not there to "hold" anything. With a PVL, since you are setting it from TDC then rotating to get your desired advance, the keyway is irrelevant.

yea, once you realize how easy it is to time a PVL, you begin to wonder why any builder of ignitions would do it any other way. My personal favorite. Ignitions with an exterior flywheel and points hiding behind it. setting the points is so much fun, having to poke a feeler guage through a hole in the flywheel hoping you have it straight and the points are actually in the right position.. oh yea lots of fun.

I agree, Mom has a '71 Yamaha HT-1 90 with the points behind the flywheel. I would put a MZ-B on it but they dont make one, and I need to keep the lights since its still tagged and street legal so no PVL.

When I parted out an older Gasgas, an 94 250 with a TM motor, I noticed that there was a PVL on it. Not sure if it would fit, but everything is there. Hmmmmmm
