Larry,
Looks like you are restoring the enduro/street model with that head.....was that the question?

Larry,

The head looks correct, but the cylinder with the side fins cut does not. Any Saracens that I have seen in person or in photos have the pipe coming over the head.

Great Saracen story and photos in Classic British Two-Stroke Trials Bikes by Don Morley if you can get your hands on a copy. In their article a 200cc Sachs powered version is also shown. In the article they say it is the 175cc version of the Sachs that was bored to 188ccs.

I sold my Saracen off a number of years ago. What is your frame number?

Hope this helps.
Paul

No a Penton or Monark Barrel with out the fin cutaways. The head is correct according to the photos I have from Motorcycle Competition.

This looks like a 70 or 71 Penton cylinder.

They must have replaced  barrel. Iam helping out with this restore job,  was told it will be a Enduro when finished. I don't have a Vin # bike might be leaning toward  "Period" correct components  at this time. Thanks for the inputs and info ! ! LG
