I've just about finished my '73 HareScrambler project. Filled the bowl, tickled it and fired it up last night, very crisp! Many thanks to POG members for answering questions and especially Al and Chi Jer for their help. Later, Tom

Your bike is great! I have a 73 yellow that needs the side panels painted like yours. What did you you use for the paint?
Your handle bars set up is cool, what did you use and why?
Thanks
Awesome job! One of my favorite Pentons![:p]
Thanks guys, this was a labor of love. This is the first bike I actually raced. I started out to only put it back in riding condition but you know how that goes....a couple of picures attached that I snapped from old photos below.
Ken, the bars are original, I know they kinda look like I took them from an old Schwinn stingray, right! They measure about 33 1/2" across with approx. 5 1/2" rise. At some point, I mounted a bolt-on crossbar but discarded with the rebuild. The paint I had a friend shoot and he mixed a match, I'll ask him about it but that probably won't help you much. The tank and right side fiberglass are original, buffed and waxed. The left side is aluminum plate, painted. The racing plates (with white background) are H&H plastic repops, took a little heat and patience to get them to fit right!

Sorry guys, I've tried everything to post pictures directly but have only mustered a link. I thought I would throw in a couple of pictures of me cheating on my beloved Penton, I just had to have some suspension!! This is my "modern" in 1981. The starting line shot is a place called Lake City Arsenal in KCMO area, some of you may remember it?
Hope you see some of you this weekend. Tom

I used to work at a Penton dealership. Reminds me of the freshly uncrated bikes.
Wow, that's one nice machine.
The 73 250 Harescrambler, my favorite Penton of all. (My first too!)

Could you send me the paint guy phone number, i live in Cleveland area and stop at our office in Franklin at least every 3 weeks. I could bring my parts down and hire him to paint the same as yours. i would love to see yours in person!
Ken, you have email with info...my address and phone, paint shop link. By all means, give me a call and plan to stop by next time you're down. I'm not far from Franklin, just a couple of exits down on I-75. Later, Tom

Tom that is one awesome bike! Take ashort video if you fire her up!
Awesome job on the bike. Love the old pictures.... especially the motocross start - amazing amount of old bikes .... and I was wondering -- that is a Suzuki RM125 - but is the bike that is on the truck also - looks to be a 1981 Suzuki RM250X model....???
And I just .. realized from your sig - that bike should be a 1982 RM250.... the first water cooled RM250.
