Greetings,
This might seem a bit out of the norm, but what the heck...if you know me it isn't so unusual :)
I am considering getting a zero turn mower for use at the nursery, I have a few more Penton projects than I will probably ever get to, as well as a Honda PC 800 with less than 20,000 miles on the clock that I don't seem to ever ride, as well as few more Pentons than I can ride at one time. Maybe one of you folks has a zero turn just sitting around that you no longer need and a deal of some sort would benefit us both. I currently use a 27 hp. 60 inch cut Dixie Chopper Classic to cut the property, but the mower isn't mine. I am looking for a fairly heavy duty zero turn, not a standard homeowner variety. I take out my frustrations while mowing the property so reliability and power are a plus....
I am located about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh for anyone who doesn't know.

Paul, I can't offer a trade but I use a 60" Hustler Super Z.
Not only did it cut my mowing time in half but on the road going to our cabin it is like having a bushhog that you ride!

Paul,
We too have nothing to sell or trade, but we just love our 29 HP Grasshopper 60" 329 series. It is a beast, and very well made.
When we first built our home 10 years ago our 6 acres was easy to keep cut with a tractor and a finish (or grooming) mower, but over the years we have added so many trees, shrubs, and landscape beds that you could get whiplash trying to spin the tractor around. At the time we cut around the house with a snapper.
The zero turn mower has made life easy again. It takes about half the time, and cuts so much closer that we have eliminated a large percent of our weedeating.
Now the tractor stays in the barn most of the year, and we have more time for other pursuits.
Don't get a 52" - the mower pan is flush with the wheels, and it is significantly harder to trim around objects than the 60 is. With a 60" the pan protrudes past the wheels to make trimming much easier.
You can actually get in tighter spots with the 60 - just a thought.

Paul, another thought -
If you don't find a trade, and end up buying a mower - count the dealer location and service above all considerations (gee kind of sounds like buying a dirt bike eh?)
I bought my Gravely and loved the machine - but had nonstop belt problems & the dealer blamed me. After 8-10 belt replacements over a year and a half at my expense I complained enough to get the distributor involved and they finally changed the idler arm - problem went away. I still remember the dealers poor attitude, but still liked the Gravely machine.
Switched to Grasshopper last year (different dealer) - the hydraulic pumps began blowing seals after about 10 hours. After 3 seals & 2 pump replacements Grasshopper wouldn't help, but the dealer called me and said - "just come get a new machine - you shouldn't have to put up with this". He now has a customer for life - no matter what brand he sells.
I had considered going with another dealer before I bought from him who was about 8 miles further away. After winching one of these beasts onto my 16' trailer just one time I really appreciated how much better close to the house is (the mower weighs 1,100 lb.). It's just too much trouble to travel far when you are having problems.
Find a good dealer close to you, and don't look back.

I have had a Kobota ZD 21 with a 60 inch deck. I installed tractor lug style tires and have used it on my 15 ac and mowed the guys 4 ac lot next door for 2 summers. It has a 21 diesel motor and is really great on fuel. My old 19 hp Ford lawn tractor used 4 gals to mow the yard and pond and I can mow 3 times with out adding fuel to the 5 gal tank.
It is fast, never had a issue, has a monster mower drive belt, grease zerks on all bearings, and the mower PTO is a wet clutch with a lever and cable that you can feather on vs. many mowers with an electric clutch that hits hard and shocks the motor. Check one out before you purchase, my is a great machine.
I also like Scag mowers for simple heavy duty machines.
