Title: Plastics for 1981 GS model
Post by: wfopete on August 19, 2011, 03:04:47 PM
I looked through our suppliers but didn't see anyone offering plastic for 1981 GS models.  Does anyone have a recomendation for other sources of the 1981 GS model year plastic?

What's the problem with thier plastic?  Is it a poor knock off of the OEM (like Maier)?

Try KTM Klassiker, they have some UFO Plastics for side covers and front gaurds. Rear gaurd i am still using DC Plastic.

Here is my bike ready for vinduro next week. Note i am using the MX rear gaurd as i mainly ride this bike in vintage MX.

The plastic may have to be modified a bit. It may not be exactly factory, like it was for my IT200 (the rear fender & the headlight shell) I have used them on my 75 Piner with no problem at all.  BUT if you use them make sure you wipe them down with something like acetone as they coat them with ArmorAll and stivkers or backgorunds wont stick.     I like to use them as "race plastic" & stash the original plastic.
