Ric,
This looks like a great weekend, but I have to work Saturday.
Some of the other guys from ARX will probably show up.
Maybe next year, it looks like it is scheduled for 09/01-2/12, and I will make sure to get that Saturday off.
Have a great weekend and let us know how it goes.

Guest of honor at The Marty Tripes vintage Days will be the "Flyin Hawaiian" Big John DeSoto. It will also be DeSoto's 64th birthday Luau Saturday night, bring your hawaiian shirt.
Lots of old pro's will be in attendance for the Carlsbad race track reunion.
For a long weekend we are going back to the 1970's.. I for one am ready to to leave the present for a bit and go back to a time of no worries:-)
Mahalo Pablo
Ric, I am heading out to cruise the pits (are pit bikes allowed?)and will keep an eye open for you.
Hi Greg,The race info doesn't say No to anything.I like that.I would think a pit bike ridden responsibly would be fine-there is mini classes.I'm working on a deal to pick up another yz125d in so cal but if that doesn't happen i'll be bringing my sl70 and (if it fits)a mountain bike just in case. One of these days i've got to get a trailer.See ya there,
Ric
p.s.-last minute poor planning, etc.have made me miss a few of these but i won't miss this one.Have thurs. thru tues. off work so its a definite go[8D].This and Day in the Dirt-(Thanksgiving)will probably be my last out of state races of the year,so hoping this one's Epic.

Not enough riding time this year to feel in shape, etc. so I am not planning on bringing out the Penton. I do have a 1971 Honda Trail 90 (plated)that is perfect for cruising the pits.
I went out to The Ranch and had a great time spectating and cruising the pits on my '71 Trail 90. Bruce McD was there on his Penton but I suspect that he had issues because he was not riding at his usual fast pace. There was a clean 72 Six Day for sale at $2,500 and another one in the pits but was not raced. Did not see Ric which was a disappointment but otherwise had a great time.
Hi Greg,I was there from Fri. Nite thru Sun. noon or so.Didn't bring my Penton which probably threw you off.Rode the Ktm150xc in the run what ya brung(last race of day-sat.)and yz125 d in Evol.1.(Race 6).Had a great time. Was pretty busy sat. with riding 2 classes and recovering.Neat track, great time!

Darn, I cruised the pits and was looking for either a Penton or a bike with number 86 on it. Anyway, glad you had a good time in that Arizona type heat...
Bruce still sportin the Mettco lid!

Check it out - Racer X's Simon Cudby has put up a film about the event. Very, very cool. His work is almost as good as Brian Kirby's stuff. ;)

Oh yeah, meeting Pablo at awards ceremony was neat, and instead of the usual wood plagues for trophies,Marty had John DeSoto sign a bunch of very nice posters of him with your name, class, and what place you got.It was also a treat to meet John-super nice and funny guy, also still quick. We should make plans to meet up somewhere there next year at a certain time/place so all us POG guys can get together there. The Saddleback replica track will be done by then and Joel Robert and other past Heroes are supposed to be there.Day in the Dirt at Pala and maybe Elsinore gp are next on my list as far as SoCal goes.Should be fun.

Nobody mentioned that Preston Petty was walking around the pits. Had I known he was going to be there, I would have brought along an aged fender to see if the lifetime warranty still applied :D
Good one Greg,Somebody did that at the "Carlsbad Dirt"ceremony between motos and i think he said warranty is still good if you can catch him or something like that.Later,

Wow - the Dirt Illustrated videos are very good work. Thanks...
So - who is #757 on the nice looking (early 80's?) Katoom with the cool TLD gear? I saw the name McMillen or McMillan. Is he on the site here?
And who WON the 100 class shoot-out?
Scott Burnsworth, Yamaha.
#757 is Chris McQuillen. He rides with us at ARX. He is a one of the ARX photographers. You can see his KTM and a lot of his work on the ARX website, americanretrocross.org. I don't think he visits this site.
Although, he is still a nice guy too.
