Title: It's official - Ryan Dungey to KTM
Post by: baxtermcc on October 01, 2011, 08:31:35 AM
I had expected this announcement as early as the Monday following the MXoN, but realized this morning that Ryan most likely was under contract through the end of September.

I think it is interesting that KTM is now the largest selling Dirt bike in the US.  Not bad for a company that has never had the ear of the Motorcycle mags until lately..  Funny how the big 4 is reducing the amount of bikes their building and KTM seems to be adding models, and still builds 2 strokes unlike some others who have eliminated them from their lineup.  What does that tell ya about what the market wants.
Ryan D has been one of my favorite riders since He turned pro. Always in the Hunt and does not let bad situations get the best of Him.. How about that race where he was almost a lap down and came back to finish 7th ? And it was a mud day too.. Not much flash but solid rides each time.

Should be exciting to watch Ryan running with Team Orange.  Hopefully he is able to get to grips with the bike (wonder if he'll run the 350 or 450?) in short order.

With regard to KTM sales and two strokes in general, ya gotta give them credit for their "factory" involvement in GNCC, WORCS, and the National Enduro scene.  I think those wins and that presence helps sell bikes.  Hmmm...who championed that concept?  Maybe it was....John Penton???:)

I also think the decision to put e-start on their 250/300 two strokes has turned out to be a very smart decision.  That feature appeals to a wide demographic (meaning me...).   I gotta believe Husky dealers are wishing that their factory had made a similar investment.

Pretty sure he will run the 450. He was all smiles in an interview I saw yesterday!

There are a number of video's showing Ryan riding His new bike.. There were several comments that the transition is going quite well, even a head of schedule. I quess that several of the Team that Ryan had worked with followed Roger Decoster when He left and they seem to be very excited about the prospects.. I can't wait to for January and the Supercross series.

Dungey looked good on the KTM at Vegas, but Ryan V. was just amazing.  It should be a good year for both again, hopefully they remain healthy.  Looking forward to Anaheim.
