I am working on a 73 250 hare scrambler for a friend. When the bike was drop off it had no spark and been sitting for a long time. I got the spark back and went through the carb what seem to be a thousand times. Finally I gave up on the old carb and got a different body, put all the correct jets, needel, set the float right, it seemes to act properly. Thats when the problem started, while riding the bike around the yard I notice a lean idle like it was running out of gas I went to adjust the air screw and the bike reved wide open. I pulled the carb apart and everything was right. I put a new crank seal on the mag side and I thought I had it fixed. But when I started it I still had the lean idle, rode it again and it reved wide open again. Guys I can't figure this one out I run bings on all my race bikes with no problem. I would appreciate any help on this one. Thanks Greg
Since the bike had been "sitting for a long time", did you remove the petcocks, clean them and replace the gas? If not, try that.
