That part # appears in my Jan. 1979 MC80 GS80 chassis manual as (lange 585 mm) / brake rod MC. There is a longer one listed as 650 mm GS part # 55. 03. 070. 600. I wonder if the GS is referring to late production 78 GS-6, since I thought all 79's with the exception of the late production 420's shared the same chassis, unless the GS80 lighting kit included a different brake pedal to accomidate the brake lamp switch, and thus requiring the longer brake rod? Hi Mike, I did a 79 rebuild this spring, and that one had a standard brake pedal on it. The brake switch spring ran to a hole in the petal. Nothing special or fancy, just functional! Jl

Most of the MC 79's that I have seen, and own chassis for, have the forged aluminum brake pedal with the pivoting foot, which carrier over to 1980. I don't recall any hole for a brake light spring, only two holes for alternate brake rod positions. I think the painted steel brake lever has a loop hole for the brake light switch. Which type does yours have? Mike
