Title: Amal Carb
Post by: tofriedel on November 26, 2011, 10:45:02 AM
I am working on a friends 1972 JP, which he dropped off yesterday.  It has not been run for 10 - 13 years.  The first thing I did was remove the Amal carb.  No problem, but I found that it had a reed valve assemble on the cylinder.

I have never seen this before, there is no identification as to the manufacturer of the unit.

Has anyone seen this before?  The bike serial number is 702*****.

It's probably a GEM reed assembly.  I believe Boyesen still makes reeds for them.

Mike,

Thanks.  I was also advised by someone else that it may be a GEM unit, but this has no ID markings on it.  A departure from any other GEM unit I have seen.
