Title: Wanted: 1973 250 Hare Scrambler
Post by: Chris MacAllister on November 27, 2011, 06:54:03 PM
Looking for a good original or restored '73 Penton 250 Hare Scrambler.  Prefer MX version with smaller gas tank.  Have cash, will travel.

This is on bay, a little rough and looks like tank was painted yellow. If he gets the buy it now price, I will definitely think about selling mine!  Tom

Thanks for the heads up but this one has the wrong pipe and tank.  Wonder what else?

It may not be so in the case of this particular bike, but some of the very early Yellow Harescramblers had yellow painted over green tanks and even airboxes. Mike

I didn't know that!  Did all the yellow tank Hare Scramblers use the big pipe with the ugly silencer?

I am not sure on the 73, but my early 74 Hare Scrambler in MX trim had a unshrouded pipe with a baloney type tip, unlike the larger shrouded pipe used on the Enduro bikes with the chrome tip. The club head pipe tip was unique to the 73. Mike

Thanks Mike, just trying to thin the herd to make room for new projects.  All I have is a 2 car garage.  Skip
