Looks like a 175. All the 250's I've ever seen have the header exhaust pipe going outside the frame down tube.

72 Penton 6 day 125
76 Hercules 175gs
1975 Ossa dessert phantom
1978 Hercules w/coffin tank
77Penton 400GS
78 KTM175
76 GS250 Herc

Hi Mike, How have you been?  I have only ridden it around the yard.  I have developed an intermitting spark issue that I am dealing with.  Vance Smith thinks it might be the grounding on the kill switch or the motor.  Going to check it out today, and will report back.  Thanks, James

Great bike.  My 250 has MZB and Lectron--prior owner said it made a world of difference.  Speedy Clasen is the man on these as you prob know.  Can hook you up w parts lists/manual if needed. Best, John

Speedy started a Facebook group for Hercs too.

Hey John,  I might need a manual, I will let you know, thanks for the offer.  Yes, I know Speedy, and his knowledge of these bikes.  I also know about the Facebook group too!
