I'm close to firing-up my MC5 400 but I have
a couple questions that need answering first.
1) what is the best premix to use for these,
and at what ratio? I have a new motor
internally and would not want to "roach"
it right off the bat.
2) Does anyone make a 520 chain and sprocket
conversion kit for these. The teeth on
the present sprockets seem wider than
normal and I was told they are for a
size 50 chain system.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Tim
I have a 77 175 that came with 520 chain and sprockets so I would imagine you should be able to find the same for the 400. The rear hub is the same, but I don't know if the countershaft sprocket shaft would match up. If I get a little time, I will pull my sprocket off and see if they are the same as the 530 sprockets. Perkins or Buenher should have the parts.
I run premium fuel and mix at 40:1. Should work fine.

Thanks Rocket, what kind of oil do you
use? I recently have been told about a brand
called WP. It is about 28$ a gallon. I have never heard of it.
Go with Golden Spectro Concentrate at the 40:1 and you will be good to go.
Great!!! thanks Larry. I appreciate it
much.
Thanks to all again!
