Title: Plug Cross reference
Post by: Mike Bower on December 29, 2011, 04:37:48 PM
I got my Penton/Wassel started on the third kick. Good chance it hadn't run in thirty-some years. Felt great. After some clutch adjustment, I rode it about a half block until it died. Couple kicks and it fired up and rode it back. Check the plug and it was of course oily. Dropped the needle, cleaned the plug, (has great spark). Anyway, I kicked quite a few times and got it (barely) running for a short time, only seems to be much more rich. The plug is a Champion L8HS.
The Manual says to use a Bosch W 260 T1 which I can't find or even cross reference. Need some suggestions on plug type, jetting, Timing...

Thanks for ant info,
Mike B.

Bosch W3AC or W3AS on all Pentons/KTMs, 100/125 Sachs timing 3mm BTDC, Points at .015 if you have them. Have fun.

PS: Get plugs from Rock Auto

I checked my old Champion reference list and cross-reference chart.
The W260T1 converts to either Champion L78 or NGK B8HS. The recommended gap is .020" (sounds a bit narrow). .022" makes sense.

NGK B7HS or B6HS for Trials. NGK IRIDIUM would be better. BR7HIX or BR6HIX. Sounds more like carb/float problems than plugs though.
Email me Mike for jetting. I'll have to look that up.
