I've seen some of the jackpiner exhaust where the old silencer and cover are removed. then a aftermarket silencer is used. need to know if this mod will boost the performance and where do you cut. thanks for the help
DJ
My opinion is it will not boost performance, those stock silencers are very efficient, when I raced my stock jackpiner in the day, I always holeshotted against YZ's and Elsinores.
They may have left them on back east but out in Socal, we always hacked off the cover and any interal stinger and replace it with a silencer end piece (cannot remember the correct name).
the pipe on my 73 Piner had a mod from back in the day that was done by EC Birt,
it appears that he used the front part of the stock pipe and added his pipe from under the gas tank out to the end,
i spoke to someone here that has the same pipe mod on their Piner,
Kip, Gary Ellis, ?? i can't remember :-))))

Carl Cranke spec's 125
For the stock 175 remove the flat thin steel deflector in the end cap should help a bit . I would save and not cut off the stock pipe shroud unless it's smashed.
I leave mine stock, change packing regularly and have no complaints.
Mikey G.-That was me-i have the EC Birt Jackpiner pipe as well.
Ric
