VMD 2012 is over and for the POG is was another great and memorable event with numerous folks needing to be thanked.
Ollie and Al Martin once again loaded and pulled the POG trailer to Mid-Ohio, quite a bit of work and lots of prep time spent getting everything washed and loaded. If I am not mistaken Mrs. Al Martin did the driving chores pulling the rig back to Amherst, THANK You Ollie and Al and Mrs. Al Martin.
Dale Fisher, he was one busy guy all weekend constantly selling shirts and memberships as well as working on setting up the display, moving bikes into and out of the tent each morning and evening, as well as being the night security man.... THANK YOU Dale...
Scott Brogan once again hit a home run with the POG shirts, the 2012 shirts sold like hotcakes as did the left overs from previous years. The colder weather created quite a demand on the long sleeve shirts from a couple of years ago, I think they are now all gone. Scott also helped with anything and everything else that needed done..
THANK you Scott.....
Dale Buehner once again put his cooking skills to work and kept the troops fed all weekend, THANK YOU Dale for a job well done...
Alan Buehner was also kept busy, most folks would think he was mostly at his parts booth, but the truth is that he filled in at the POG display numerous times as well as keeping the bookwork straight and helping where ever he was needed, THANK you Al...
Jeff Borer hauled some of his remarkable machines to VMD and provided a display that told a lot of the John Penton story to the folks who visited the display, as well as helping out everywhere he was needed, THANK YOU Jeff....
John Penton, I am at a total loss of words to explain what a tremendous person and role model that he is, as all of you already know. When John was at the POG tent the line would stretch out the door with folks waiting to see him and he would greet every one of the folks as if they were his closest friend that he had not seen for quite awhile, THANK YOU John Penton...
I know there are many more folks who helped in many ways and please accept our thanks for your efforts...
A few treasured memories of the event.
There seemed to be many more younger folks attending this year and a number of them made their way into the POG tent, watching John talk with these young folks and signing their shirts was priceless and gives us hope that the Penton story will live on. Seeing a copy of the John Penton book in the hands of a youngster is pretty neat :)
Many, many folks took a lot of time to ask a lot of questions about the Penton motorcycle as well as John Penton, the interest never seems to wain.
Getting to see and hear Craig Vetter at the AMA Life Member breakfast on Sunday morning was a real treat, if you ever get the chance to attend one of these functions I highly recommend that you do. At an autograph session with Craig those in attendance wished him a happy 70th birthday and sang Happy Birthday to him. He and his wife are so nice and down to earth, can not say enough nice things about these folks.
The list could go on. . . .
I hear that the Penton racers did a heck of a job, hopefully someone can give us a report.
Thanks again to every one of you who helped in any way...
Paul
You are correct Paul, Janet did drive the rig back to Amherst. She drove for one of the big trucking outfits for a few years so she enjoys getting behind the wheel once and a while. Don't tell her I said so, but shes better at it than I am;).
Dale Fisher deserves an ironman trophy and a big thanks from all of us for all the time he put in working at the display. Thank You Dale
Al
Mr. Awesomeness!
More to come on Pentonville...

My thanks go out to Dale Buehner for his warm welcome(guys - can you help me get rid of these last couple of hot dogs?)and a great Sunday lunch for myself and a friend. I keep such a race face on for Friday and Saturday that I don't really get a chance to just hang out and enjoy the friendship and food until it's Sunday.
Kudo's to Paul and the team for the "Ville", which is still the first place I seek out when I come to VMD. Got my 2012 Berkshire t-shirt with the images of Dane on it. Great stuff.
And some beautiful showroom floor Penton examples to boot. Just fantastic work, guys. You know who you are.
The other really cool thing that was going this year at VMD was that Cafe Racer bike show on Saturday on the other side of the bridge. I ran over between MX practice and my races to look at some of this hardware. Wow. Some very amazing metallurgy and really original customs were to be found there.
Again - Thanks to the POG!
What a great time we had this year, my schedule only allowed Deanna and I to be there on Saturday but we had a blast. Thanks to everyone mentioned above for all you do to make this a great gathering for all and a special thanks to Paul as well for being such a great ambassador for the Penton brand. Welcoming a steady stream of visitors into the tent and answering all their questions, I don't think he ever sits down!
Lots of young people coming in and just hanging out, pentonville has a special draw on people. One of my memorable moments is of a young fellow coming back in the afternoon having just purchased a six day project bike in the swap meet, almost running while pushing that bike. John came out and signed his tank and front plate and posed for a photo shoot. I imagine the smile still can't be wiped off of his face!
Thanks again to everyone that helps to make this happen, very special. Tom
Sounds like things went great up at Pentonville. As usual, I was stuck in the pits throughout the weekend, but we ended up doing very well...Adam won the Vintage Grand Championship again and Gary got second in the Senior Grand Championship, which ended up being very close. Jeff Fredette came loaded for bear and ended up winning by one point over Gary and Gary got second by one point over last year's Senior Grand Champion Tim Shepard. Jeff and Tim are both friends of ours and I want to congratulate them on their success as well.
Thank you again to all of the fellow POGers who stopped by throughout the weekend to say hi, big thanks to Dennis Jones for selling us his well prepped Wassel, and a HUGE thanks goes out to Al Buehner for his continued support. We couldn't have done it without you Al!

Regretfully, I was unable to take more pictures of the Penton "Compound" and some of these do not fully reflect the full fluid transformation :D

And then there were the display bikes [:p]

Thanks Kent,
I'm glad to see it is being used as it was built to be, by champions.

I got to see my friend again this year. I asked for Bud and I was told he was there wearing a green shirt. I saw several green shirts within 20 feet but found Bud fairly easy.
Some of the members got a kick out of me asking Bud for his autograph. He didn't seem to mind at all.
He showed me his bike and it was very nice.
I rode a friends 1971 CB 750 for a pit bike this year and the overseas buyers would not leave me alone until I let it be know that I didn't bring the title.
I do enjoy the Pentonville area each year. It is the best area and display of the whole meet. Bar none.
We will have eight areas next year and an invitation is extended to you all to visit and take a break and have a cold drink and hot dogs. I think I ate hot dogs for two weeks after the meet was over.
