It is with great sadness that we must pass along the news that POG member Regg Rader passed away on August 4th from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Thanks Paul, I am always sorry to hear the news.. I did not know him but he must be a pretty good guy, he loved Pentons.

I met Regg, and delivered some steel tank parts to him at M/O VMD in 2010. He seemed pretty excited to get a steel tanker together. Real nice man, I enjoyed meeting him. I know he was a force on his Penton back in the day. I could be mistaken, but I believe his father owned a Penton dealership. That's too bad, sorry to hear this.

Wow! I just now caught this post. How very sad. I actaully tried to reach out to him last year through the POG email when I saw that he was a member. Unfortunately, I was not successful. He was a very very good MX racer. I had big battles (1973) with him and Jon leak in the 100 calss all over Ohio. All on our Pentons. Still have articles and pictures. He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.
Jeff
Anyone remember racing with Regg around 1973 (Ohio) ? Very talented and very nice guy.
Jeff
"Back in the day", I had often heard the Rader name mentioned with the greatest of respect, seems like they liked to run the 100 cc machines and could really make them scream, as Jeff and Bob have attested to. I do think there was more than Regg Rader riding in the family, possibly Phil whom I think was his cousin. I do think I met Phil at VMD or another recent event.
Regg showed up a few years back at the Will Stoner swapmeet in Medina, Ohio, as soon as we started to talk it was easy to see his excitement about the Penton era, when he introduced himself I instantly recognized the Rader name.
I recently talked with Dale Barris about the Raders, Dale was also extremely fast on board a 100cc Penton MX machine. Dale couldn't remember if they had a shop or not and I still don't know the answer to that question.
We lost a great guy in the passing of Regg.

Circa 1973 / Mid-Ohio MX Park. Battling for the win in the hotly contested 100 class. All of us on our trusty Pentons. I am being pursued by Regg Rader who is closely followed by my good friend Mark Tracy. Mark and I rode for Piasecki's of Toledo and Regg rode for his family's Penton shop. R.I.P. Regg.
