Does anybody know where I can find info on the SWM RS175 GS? It has letters/ numbers stamped on the frame: USA * SWM* RS175 GS * US * D * 00XX on it, a very low production number. A friend is thinking about buying it and is wanting more info (parts, etc.). I think it is a 1979? Red and white tank, silver frame, lay down Marzocci shocks, etc.
Thanks,
Clay

Clay,
If it's a 79 they are nice bikes. Rotax engine same as the Can-Ams of the period, parts are easy to find. Controls, brakes, forks, shocks, rims, etc were all quality stuff. Keith Taylor in Omaha makes repro plastic and rubber parts for them. The metal gas tanks are hard to come by but not impossible. Lively little bikes, similar to KTM GS-6 175s of the era (I know...blasphemy!)and lighter than the Can-Ams of the era. There's some guys over on the Vinduro page (Yahoo group) that have 78 and 79 175s. I've got an '81 440 that is a rocketship.
