Title: Speedo Mount on 73 JP
Post by: Keith Meatyard on October 28, 2012, 09:32:40 PM
Could someone post a pic of the original mounting of the speedometer on the 73 Jackpiner?  I have only a L bracket which has one bolt down through it into the steering post cap through a rubber isolator.  A large hose clamp fastens around the speedo body and the L bracket. It seems very flimsey, and I've seen the ones that clamp to the crossbar, but I don't think this bike ever had that.  Did they maybe come both ways?

Thanks,

I wrap a large "O" ring around the crossbar and then loop it around the body of the VDO to keep it from flopping.

So then, the flimsey arrangement is factory set-up?  Was the bar clamp earlier or later?

Field to modify! Most used a strip of inner tube.  Bar clamp came along later around 74 up .
