Title: 74 Jackpiner

Do you have to pull the motor from the frame of a 74 jackpiner to do a piston job? Any info would help.

Willie,

I know on a 72 you either need to pull the engine or undo all the bolts that hold the engine on so it drops down enough that the barrel will clear the exhaust bracket attached to the frame above the head. You may also have to bend the tab the wiring junction block attaches to but that is usually pretty flexible.  Last time I did this; I just pulled the engine and did the top end at the bench.  It was a lot less aggravation then mashing my fingers trying to weasel out the jug from a tight spot. I am assuming the 74 is similar, but could be wrong.

Thanks,

Kevin
