Title: Sachs Bottom End Color codes
Post by: pklinck on January 02, 2013, 08:18:30 AM
Kip,

I called the local auto parts store and they need a color code for the paint on the bottom end of the A,B sachs engines.

1.) Seymour Alumiblast paint code?
2.) PJ1 clear code?

Secondly,  If i understood, you only Glas blast the bottomend cases? Would you recommend installing the cover cases and holes and then blasting prior to removing the old case bearings so to protect???

thanks

The paint that has been recommended on this site before is Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Cast Coat Aluminum DE1650.  It is available at Advance Auto Parts.  After you use the DE1650 you can then clear coat it with Dupli-Color DE1636.

Good Luck

Tony

The paint doesn't have a code, I just buy it by the rattle can from Eastwood or TP Tools. I blast the cases with or without the bearings installed.  If bearings are in I simply tape over them to protect them.  I don't blast directly at the bearings/areas.  I clean the cases afterwards with high pressure air, filtered parts washer bath then scalding hot water and ERA laundry detergent then scalding hot water, then blow dry. They are squeaky clean afterwards with no dirt, beads or grime on them what so ever.  If this process, less the blasting, worked on our M-16's and M-60's in the Marines, it will work on the Sachs engine cases. I have never seen cleaner engine cases period prior to painting;)

Guys,

thanks for the paint options in Seymor Alumi-blast and DE1650 for motor bottom ends.
